The U.S. Embassy in Jakarta is seeking individual for the position of Visa Clerk in the Consular Section and The American Presence Post in Medan is seeking an individual for the position of Maintenance Inspector / Property Clerk in the Management Section.

Visa Clerk - Jakarta

Basic Function of Position
  • The job holder is responsible for ensuring that the ingress and egress of all visitors to the consular section occurs in an orderly manner in accordance with existing procedures, in close coordination with the consular section and local security. She / he will also be available to answer applicant questions, assist with biometrics collection, and perform pre-intake checks of visa forms and photos.
Qualifications Required

  • Minimum High School graduation and one year of relevant post-secondary (technical or university) education is required.
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience working with International or Multinational Organization and environments involving administrative, the application of regulatory material and extensive public contact includes customer service.
  • Level 4 (fluent) speaking / reading / writing in English and Bahasa Indonesia are required. Language proficiency will be tested. Language proficiency will be tested. If you have taken a TOEIC or TOEFL test administered by ETS within 6 months, please attach the certificate.
  • Have a basic understanding of Indonesian civil and family law procedures, and understand the basic principles of customer service and methods for dealing with difficult or unhappy clients. Within one year of entry, a thorough knowledge of all consular systems and processing procedures is expected.
  • Must be comfortable working in close proximity with the public, capable of responding with courtesy under conditions of stress and duress. Capable of working standing up, outdoors for extended periods of time.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system and be proficient with the Microsoft Office automation products.

Maintenance Inspector / Property Clerk - Medan

Basic Function of Position
  • This is a mixed position with maintenance and property responsibilities. Serves as the lead maintenance person for APP Medan, the incumbent is responsible for inspecting facilities and planning and overseeing emergency repairs, necessary / requested upgrades and preventive maintenance. Also serves as post’s storekeeper and property records clerk, s / he ensures accountability for all expendable and non-expendable property. The incumbent exercises daily work supervision and weekly / monthly scheduling of a maintenance mechanic and post’s janitors / laborers. S / He operates a motorcycle or vehicle to carry out work.
Qualifications Required

  • Completion of high school is required.
  • At least two years experience working in one trade area (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc) or building maintenance with at least one year of which was in a supervisory or planning position where incumbent planned and / or directed the work of others is required.
  • Level 3 (Good working knowledge) in Speaking / Reading / Writing English and Bahasa Indonesia are required. Language proficiency will be tested. If you have taken a TOEIC or TOEFL test administered by ETS within 6 months, please attach the certificate.
  • Knowledge of business and construction practices and contractor behavior. Familiarity with inventory systems. Familiarity with the local markets so as to be able to direct General Services / Administrative Assistant to find and purchase supplies. Knowledge of use of a wide range of safety equipment including ear, eye, head and body protection, use of chemical cleaners, thinners, pool chemicals, and dangers of herbicides / fungicides / insecticides.
  • Must have manual skill (manual dexterity, coordination, strength sufficient to carry out maintenance and property activities, moving items, packing / unpacking crates, climbing ladders, etc), keyboard / data entry / basic typing / computer skill (ability to create basic reports using word processing and spread sheet and pull reports from property management software), mechanical operation skill (able to use / understand hand and power tools / appliances, and understanding mechanical operation of doors, window, etc; Needs to be competent in a range of mechanical / technical skills, practices and procedures and able to perform in these areas without outside guidance. Must know how to use and monitor use of a variety of hand and tool power), and internal and external communication skills. Understanding basic arithmetic, ability to calculate the amount of supplies required for a job, ability to measure accurately, ability to calculate average use of expendable supplies and determine how much needs to be ordered to cover a specific time period.
  • Must be able to operate a U.S. government-owned vehicle. Must have a valid driver’s license (SIM C) – A copy must be attached to applications.
